Reading the site #
No reader is asked to register, sign in or give a name to read any page. The fonts and images on the site are served from the site itself.
Visitor statistics #
The site uses Google’s tag (Google Analytics) to count visits and to learn which pages are read. When you load a page, Google receives your IP address, details of your browser and device, and the addresses of the pages you visit, and it sets cookies for this purpose. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can decline these statistics with your browser’s privacy settings, or with Google’s opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Server records #
As with any website, the server that hosts the site records each request it receives: the IP address, the time, the page asked for and the browser used. These records serve security and maintenance, and the host keeps them for a limited period.
Your place in a long article #
On long articles and pages, the site can remember how far you read, so that it may offer to return you there. This position is kept only in your own browser, for sixty days, and is removed when you reach the end of the page. It is never sent to the site. Clearing your browser’s data for the site removes it at once.
Sharing and links #
The share buttons are plain links. Nothing is sent to any other service until you choose one, and from then the policy of that service applies. The same holds for links to other websites.
